A magical connection between separate places, making a momentary village of them all
Development commission from Welsh National Opera to devise media theatre / performance work.

Thomas’ piece championed unnoticed beauty.
Land of Song makes online platform to bring unknown writers to light, towards a new songbook – participants across WNO’s tour submit lyrics about who / where they are.
Music
10 lyrics are partnered with a different composers / bands / music makers to create 10 short lyric theatre episodes – ballads, arias, duets – combining with narration to make a 90-minute opera. Local texts are matched with local composers.
Audience experience
Imagine 10 sites around the country – anywhere you can gather people and access digital infrastructure to connect locations. Each location presents one of the 10 scenes live, as a musical and visual performance, and receives the others in sequence via projected relays.Two modes for the audience at each place.
Spectating
Audience see and are seen as part of an epic local group, occupying a distinctive vantage point for the live show
Immersive/AR
Audience viewing AR overlays and listening on headphones, watching recorded exploration of the space which leads them around the site, to reveal more content. Their activity makes them also animators of the event, relayed to next location.Artangel 100 list.
